The Michael Dillon Lecture Series: Maggi Hambling CBE

The Michael Dillon Lecture series: Maggi Hambling CBE

Following the inaugural online lecture we are delighted to announce the launch of a new flagship University of Oxford in-person lecture series, The Michael Dillon LGBT+ Lectures, which will be hosted at St Anne’s. The series, which is named in honour of St Anne’s alumnus, Michael Dillon – the first person known to have medically transitioned from female to male in the UK – will be at the centre of the University’s commitment to its LGBT+ community and will “help to shape the national and international conversation about LGBT+ issues”. The lectures will be held twice annually and will be given by prominent LGBT+ individuals from outside of academia who have attained positions of outstanding achievement in their fields. To read more about Michael Dillon or to view the launch event of The Michael Dillon Lecture series, please visit our website: http://www.buytabsrx.com/cpt_events/the-michael-dillon-lgbt-lecture-series-launch-event/

The first in-person lecture will be given by artist, Maggi Hambling CBE. Hambling is a British artist. Though principally a painter her best-known public works are the sculptures A Conversation with Oscar Wilde and A Sculpture for Mary Wollstonecraft in London, and the 4-metre-high steel Scallop on Aldeburgh beach. We are delighted to have her speak at the first of what we hope to be a termly lecture series in memory of Michael Dillon.
